Definition and Purpose:
Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu (PPT) also known as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal JPK certification route for experienced workers without formal training. Through it’s platforms, it enables persons to obtain Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM/DKM/DLKM) through a demonstration of current skills and experience to the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS). Concisely, PPT converts life experience into an official accreditation.
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates entering the PPT are usually well-experienced workers within manufacturing or service provider units who are capable of providing documentation of relevant experiences. Overall, any employee who is able to demonstrate provable competence in a certain area (one keeping pace with the NOSS in that area) can qualify. Business or finance professionals/leaders who have accomplished success in the industry for over 5+ years, community leaders, or trainers who gathered skills through experience are examples in the industry. (Guidance by JPK points out that workers who have acquired the necessary working experience in a related field shall be qualified)

PPT provides great benefits. To individuals, it offers a quick route to formal qualification within the terms of existing skills; an individual often just needs a short assessment. In one instance, the experienced auto inspection professionals with three years of experience were graded SKM Level 3 with a one-day assessment only. This helps in faster growth into a better career and, in many cases, increased compensation and status. To an employer, it is verifiable competence of higher quality with PPT-certified staff. The PPT employee certification can enhance customer assurance and operations quality, e.g., one company attributes the transparency and trust of its services to the PPT certification of all its vehicle inspectors. Pusat Penilaian Amali (PPA-PPT)



Definition and Purpose:
Pusat Penilaian Amali (PPA-PPT) is a certified center where PPT testing is administered. Technically, PPA-PPT is described as a premise which JPK ratified to undertake practical examination (amali) by way of the PPT method. Practically, these will be training centers and companies or industry locations that will be equipped to carry out practical tests. The aim of a PPA-PPT is to ensure that assessments are made in appropriately equipped venues in line with JPK rules and applicable NOSS. Any empirical test in a PPA-PPT has to be in line with the prevailing National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) as well as JPK regulations.
Eligibility Criteria:
To become a PPA-PPT, an organization must apply if it meets the following criteria:
- Entity Type: It has to be a company/organization, registered association/industry body, or licensed training provider working in the same field of skills.
- Coordinator: It should have an appointed PPA-PPT Coordinator who has passed the JPK PPT induction course (i.e., is in possession of a PP-PPT induction certificate). The person in charge may be a high-profile employee or instructor who is familiar with the Skills Certification program.
- Facilities: It should be well equipped with facilities, equipment, and materials to undertake the practical assessment of the program (s) on offer. A welding PPA has to have welding workstations (An IT PPA must have computers and labs).
Benefits to Candidates, Organization and Employers:
The PPA system also comes with key benefits. To the candidates, the availability of the PPAs (usually several in each state) translates into more convenient, close-to-home testing centers to take the PPT assessment. The practical tests could be administered near the work or training facility. For the organization to undertake the PPA, it is an advantage because it is provided with official accreditation by undertaking paid assessment services. An example can be cited on one of the accredited training centers, which since it is a PPA, it has the capacity to provide SKM, DKM, and DLKM through the PPT pathway of assessment. This will enable the center to certify workers who have experience within the JPK in an official manner. Lastly, in the case of employers, they can be assured that tests are up to national standards, as referring his/her staff to a JPK-approved, PPA will ensure that tests will be valid. Essentially, PPAs can contribute to increasing the quality of their general skills: the greater the number of assessment centers, the more workers who can be certified.

Guaranteed University Access Through the Vocational Pathway
There is no assurance that academic pathways will necessarily lead to entrance into a degree program. However, the vocational pathway allows a seamless way of progressing to higher education. Graduates of DKM (Level 4) and DLKM (Level 5) will have priority entry to universities under MTUN (UTHM, UTeM, UMP, UniMAP). Through this pathway, skills training guarantees a transition to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, as well as PhD studies.
